In Today’s Gospel Last week, we saw John the Baptist baptize Jesus in the Jordan River. John was a prophet sent by God to prepare the way of the Lord. In today’s gospel, we see John’s testimony about Jesus. John testifies that he saw the “Spirit come down like a dove from heaven and remain upon [Jesus].” (Jn 1:32)
John responded to Jesus with humility, saying that the man “coming after me who ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.” (Jn 1:30) As Jesus begins his public ministry, let us humbly follow him.
En el Evangelio de Hoy La semana pasada vimos cómo Juan el Bautista bautizaba a Jesús en el río Jordán. Juan era un profeta enviado por Dios para preparar el camino del Señor. En el evangelio de hoy, escuchamos el testimonio de Juan sobre Jesús. Juan testifica que vio “al Espíritu que bajaba como una paloma del cielo y se quedaba sobre él”. (Jn 1, 32).
Juan respondió con humildad a Jesús, diciendo que “Detrás de mí viene un hombre, que se ha puesto delante de mí, porque existía antes que yo”. (Jn 1, 30). Ahora que Jesús comienza su ministerio público, sigámoslo con humildad.
Martin Luther King Jr. Tomorrow, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr Day. This is a secular holiday to remember the work and struggle of Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. King’s legacy is rooted in his commitment to non-violence and social justice as he sought to overcome prejudice and hate. Because of the hatred of others, Dr. King gave his life in the name of freedom and equality.
Sadly, as we celebrate the life of Dr. King, we live in a country that is becoming more and more divided. This hatred and division have been growing for years. Let us not give in to hate, let us not give in to fear, but let us love our brothers and sisters, whomever they are, wherever they are from.
Martin Luther King Jr. Mañana celebramos el Día de Martin Luther King Jr. Se trata de una festividad secular para recordar la labor y la lucha del Dr. Martin Luther King. El legado del Dr. King se basa en su compromiso con la no violencia y la justicia social, ya que trató de superar los prejuicios y el odio. Debido al odio de los demás, el Dr. King dio su vida en nombre de la libertad y la igualdad.
Lamentablemente, mientras celebramos la vida del Dr. King, vivimos en un país cada vez más dividido. Este odio y esta división han ido creciendo durante años. No cedamos al odio, no cedamos al miedo, sino amemos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas, sean quienes sean y vengan de donde vengan.
Surrender Next Monday, the Nankin Family of Parishes will host the Magic Carpet Theater (MCT) for its presentation of “Surrender,” a captivating theatrical production that brings Scripture to life through engaging scenes, beautiful music, and gorgeous costumes.
Every other year, we host the MCT as part of our Faith Formation Program. Using drama, humor, and song, they offer a unique opportunity to experience Scripture and consider what they may need to grow closer to God. The Faith Formation students from all the parishes in our Family of Parishes will be attending this production, but it is open to all.
We rotate the church where we host it, and this year it will be at St. Mary in Wayne. Please join us on Monday, January 26, at 6 PM.
Rendirse El próximo lunes, la Familia de Parroquias de Nankin acogerá al Teatro de la Alfombra Mágica (MCT) para la presentación de “Rendirse”, una cautivadora producción teatral que da vida a las Escrituras a través de escenas atractivas, música hermosa y vestuario magnífico.
Cada dos años, acogemos al MCT como parte de nuestro Programa de Formación en la Fe. Mediante el teatro, el humor y las canciones -ofrecen una oportunidad única para experimentar las Escrituras y reflexionar sobre lo que se necesita para acercarse más a Dios. Los alumnos de Formación en la Fe de todas las parroquias de nuestra Familia de Parroquias asistirán a esta producción, pero está abierta a todos.
Rotamos la iglesia donde la acogemos, y este año será en St. Mary, en Wayne. Únase a nosotros el lunes 26 de enero a las 6 de la tarde.
